CIFF-Microscopy course
1-15 May 2026
📘 Overview
The CIFF Microscopy Course at NCBS is a three-day intensive, hands-on training program designed to introduce participants to the principles and practical applications of advanced light microscopy, particularly confocal imaging. The course combines interactive lectures with practical laboratory sessions to provide a comprehensive understanding of modern microscopy techniques.
Participants will learn the fundamental concepts of optical microscopy, including microscope components, imaging principles, fluorescence basics, and resolution limits. The course will also cover essential aspects of confocal microscopy such as optical sectioning, detector settings, laser configuration, and strategies for acquiring high-quality images and introduction to high resolution microscopy and demonstrations. Through guided hands-on sessions using state-of-the-art microscopes, participants will gain practical experience.. In addition, the course introduces participants to basic image processing and analysis workflows, helping them understand how to handle, interpret, and present microscopy data effectively.
By the end of the program, participants will have a solid foundation in confocal microscopy and will be better equipped to design experiments, acquire reliable imaging data, and apply microscopy techniques in their own research projects.
